Chinese for Kids | Classroom Rules Song

Desk - Classroom Songs for Kids

This past week we launched our ‘Rules Song!’

I got an email from a Youtube subscriber asking for more Chinese for kids resources. This got me thinking…

Why not create a ‘Rules Song’ to remind kids of good behaviour and learn some Mandarin along the way!

I, again, followed the principles of repetition + high-frequency useful phrases. Here are the lyrics:

Qǐng ānjìng de tīng (Please listen quietly.)
Nǐ yào zhuānxīn (You want to focus)
Bú yào zǒu dòng (Don’t walk about.)
Tīng lǎoshī shuō (Listen to the teacher say.)

Shàngkè de guīzé nǐ yào zūnshǒu (Class rules, you want to obey.)
Shàngkè de guīzé nǐ yào zūnshǒu (Class rules, you want to obey.)
Shàngkè de guīzé nǐ yào zūnshǒu (Class rules, you want to obey.)
Shàngkè de guīzé wǒ yào zūnshǒu (Class rules, I want to obey.)

Check it out here:

The voice on the recording is our friend Stacy Liu. Stacy grew up here in New Zealand but comes from a Cantonese speaking/Malaysian background. She also speaks Mandarin! She has a fantastic R&B voice and does an excellent job with the Mo-town/Macy Gray feel!

The song also comes with FREE worksheets to allow teachers to do follow-up learning with the song. There are several sheets of activities and should provide students to get the most out of the song.

In total, this is a prepped lesson ready to go for Mandarin teachers who teach at the primary/elementary level.

Hope you enjoy the ‘Rules Song!’
